Interventional Radiology Department of Jiangsu Cancer Hospital is the first hospital in Jiangsu Province to carry out interventional diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It is an independent clinical department with independent wards, 39 open beds and more than 3500 interventional operations per year.

Nowadays, besides cardiac and neurological interventions, interventional therapy is routinely carried out for all kinds of tumors of various systems, including liver cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, gallbladder cancer, gynecological tumors, bone tumors, esophageal cancer, head and neck tumors, etc. At the same time, interventional diagnosis and treatment related to tumors have been carried out in an all-round way, such as TIIPS, vena cava filter implantation, stent therapy for vascular stenosis caused by tumor compression or invasion, cement plasty for bone metastases, esophago-biliary airway stent implantation, RFA and microwave therapy for tumors, particle implantation, gastrostomy and post-operation treatment, ultrasound and CT guided puncture diagnosis and treatment. Annual operation volume including image-guided puncture and treatment is more than 5000 sets.

Interventional Radiology Department of Jiangsu Cancer Hospital is well equipped with advanced medical equipment. It has 2 large Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) equipment, 2 ultrasonic instruments and 1 special CT. It is now the Cancer Intervention Diagnosis and Treatment Center and also the Radiofrequency Ablation Treatment Center for Cancer in Jiangsu Province. There are three chief physicians, five deputy chief physicians; four doctorates and four masters. Yin Guowen, the director of the department, is the chairman of the professional committee of cancer intervention of Jiangsu Anti-Cancer Association, and there are one member of the Standing Committee and three members of the professional committee of cancer intervention diagnosis and treatment of Jiangsu Anti-Cancer Association. There are two members of Jiangsu Radiological Society Members and three members of Nanjing Radiological Society. Over the years, over 100 doctors have been recruited from all over the country, including Tibet, Qinghai, Guangxi, Yunnan and Sichuan, etc.

At present, Interventional Radiology Department of Jiangsu Cancer Hospital undertakes two National Natural Resources Fund Projects and more than ten provincial and ministerial projects. Interventional Radiology Department was awarded a second-class prize for scientific and technological progress by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, a second-class prize and a third-class prize by the provincial government, a second-class prize by the provincial department and more than 10 introducing prizes.
